Assessing Your Organization's Readiness

If you can answer "yes" to the six questions below, your company is ready for strategic planning.

1. Is there a champion on the Board for the strategic planning process?

2. Dou you have buy-in from key association leaders?

3. Do you have buy-in from senior staff?

4. Can you devote adequate time to the process, including research that may be needed for a comprehensive environmental scan?

5. Can you budget adequate funds to support the process?

6. Is there an understanding among Board and Staff that strategic planning is not a one-time event but an ongoing process?

If you answer "no" to any question, consider what steps you can take to remedy the weakness.
