Assessing Your Organization’s Readiness for Strategic Planning
If you can answer "yes" to each of the six questions below, your organization is ready for strategic planning.
If you answer "no" to any question, consider what steps you can take to remedy the weakness.
1. Is there a champion on the Board for the strategic planning process?
2. Do you have buy-in from key association leaders?
3. Do you have buy-in from senior staff?
4. Can you devote adequate time to the process, including research that may be needed for a comprehensive environmental scan?
5. Can you budget adequate funds to support the process?
6. Is there an understanding among Board and staff that strategic planning is not a one-time event but an ongoing process?
